About six and a half years ago, Frankie settled onto a farm in Ampuyenta. It was a beautiful piece of land, but she had no idea at the time that it was destined to grow into a full animal sanctuary.

The transformation began entirely by accident, sparking from a casual conversation with a neighbor who asked a simple question: “Do you want a donkey?”

Frankie couldn't say no—but she also couldn't pick just one. Instead, she opened her heart to a package deal of three: a young Henry (who was only a few months old), a gentle jenny named Hope, and Hope's tiny five-week-old son, Yndio. Diving into donkey care was a massive learning curve. Her first major challenge was figuring out how to keep her new trio contained after they discovered that their beautiful, brand-new wooden corral happened to taste absolutely delicious. They stubbornly ate their way through it multiple times!

As Frankie mastered the ropes, word of her dedication began to spread across the island. It wasn't long before two more donkeys arrived, both suffering from severe skin conditions. Thanks to Frankie’s round-the-clock care and the tranquil atmosphere of the farm, the pair made a miraculous, full recovery in just a few short weeks.

Today, that initial passion has blossomed into a lifelong, forever-expanding haven. Frankie's love for rescues extends well beyond the herd; the farm is now a busy home to five rescued dogs and thirteen cats, and she is always ready to open her gates to new animals in need. While many of these animals arrived with heartbreaking pasts, they are all now guaranteed a lifetime of safety and unconditional love.

It has been an incredible journey of transformation for everyone involved. After all, who would have thought that a former international dancer, once living in a world of glitz and glamour, would find her true life's passion cuddling donkeys in a quiet field?
